URSA, ILL. -- Lightning strikes may be to blame for at least two house fires in Ursa, Illinois.

The first fire happened around 6:00 p.m. leaving one home destroyed. Fire crews had a hard time reaching the fire due to flash flooding in the area.

KHQA spoke with an Ursa firefighter who said firefighters used flood water that had backed up into nearby ditches to try and put the flames out. The home is owned by Jim Robesky, one of our employees here at KHQA. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Fire crews tell us the second fire was started by lightning. The house received some smoke damage. No one was hurt at that fire either.
