QUINCY, ILL. -- Kids have a lot of energy, as we found out Tuesday.
KHQA was invited by Advance Wellness in Quincy to take part in a new program for kids in kindergarten through fourth grade.
The class teaches agility, balance, and hand eye coordination.
This class meets twice a week for an hour at a time.
"In here we're not really working on hitting a baseball or shooting a basekteball. We're working on the fundamental baselines of movement and how to move and be coordinated and not fall over when you move and change direction," says Brad Hoyt with Advance Wellness.
This class sets the stage for the kids to become more comfortable in their athletic settings as they get older.
"Today you will see us on a speed ladder. We use a ladder to do some jumping and foot work," says Hoyt.
"We'll use a frisbee and some tennis balls today," says Hoyt.
But before we get started, we have to put our game face on.
"We do jumping jacks," says Brady Rupert
"Put your knees up high, to your chin," says Rupert
"When you go through the boxes, he grabs frisbees and throws it. You have to turn around and catch it," says Rupert.
A nice little agility workout for the kids...and this adult.
Why is it important to work out?
"Because it makes you strong," says Seth Rupert.
There are classes for other aged kids too.
If you'd like more information on the classes, you can contact Brad or Nikki at Advance Wellness.
