MENDON, ILL. -- People definitely needed a new place to cool off Sunday at the Adams County Fair and they had a nice new place to do it.  The new first aid building was dedicated Sunday afternoon.

The Coatsburg Lions Club headed the effort to replace the old first aid station.  12 different Lions and Lioness Clubs in Adams county participated in the fundraising event.   The new building is 14 by 24 feet, air-conditioned, and is better equipped to handle first aid and medical situations.

"It means a lot to us, plus the nurses that man the station. It's a lot handier for them. It's easy access for the patients that come in and its just 100% user friendly," said Adams County Fair Board President Bob Maynard.

The old building was close to 40 years old. The new building is located by the fair office.

One of the biggest hits Sunday at the fair was the tractor pull.   Kids got on their suped-up lawn mowers to see who could pull the most weight the farthest. This was new to Lindsey who was out at the fair today. So... she found someone to explain what was going on to her.

"The sled will change gears so its harder to change how fast the box goes up. So then it will go and you add weight to get up to 800 or 750 or 700," said tractor puller Kody McCleary.

And for pulling in those three different classes... Kody must have a strategy right?

"I've been doing this for 3 years so I kind of... I'm used to it and I just come out here and try and have fun," McCleary said.
