The Associated Press reports that the 27-year-old daughter-in-law of Missouri Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer has died in a car accident in central Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Amy Luetkemeyer died Friday after an accident in Maries County.

Paul Sloca, spokesman for Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, said Amy Luetkemeyer married the congressman's son, Trevor, in October 2009.

The patrol said Luetkemeyers car crossed the center line and sideswiped an oncoming vehicle.

Luetkemeyers car then went off the road, overcorrected, and collided with another vehicle.

The patrol said she was wearing a seatbelt.

Sloca said it's "obviously a very difficult time for the family," and the families appreciate the "outpouring of support" they have receieved.
