DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Des Moines police say authorities have recovered the body of a man missing since Saturday.

Sgt. Lori Lavorato says firefighters pulled the body of Michel Castillo from the Des Moines River on Monday evening.

The 24-year-old Castillo went into the water near the Birdland Marina.

On Monday evening, police responded to a call that a body was seen floating near the marina, and an officer spotted the body in the river beneath the University Avenue bridge. Members of the fire department's water emergency team recovered the body a short time later.

The body was identified by relatives and through identification in Castillo's wallet.
