According to Wilfed Flesner the Assistant Superintendant of the Regional Office of Education, there is only one main requirement to sub in the public school system.
He says, "Anybody who has a certificate. They must be credentialed with a substitute certificate or anybody who has a regular teaching certificate may be a sub within the school district."
There are different requirement to sub in the parochial schools.
