Crop yield outlook for area

QUINCY, ILL. -- The USDA is reporting that crop yields are going be good this year.

We spoke with local farmer Dennis Dempsey, he says that might not be the case here.

He says crops don't like standing in wet soil and corn lost a lot of nitrogen because of all the rain.

Just by looking at his crops now, Dempsey doesn't think yields will be as good a last year.

He says beans aren't looking too bad right now but they still have some time to recover.

Hay has been a struggle because its just been too wet.
