CHICAGO (AP) -- The Better Business Bureau has advice for satellite and cable TV customers: Read the fine print.
The agency has received more than 750 complaints about companies offering these services in northern Illinois in the past 12 months.
Many involve questionable fees and policies.
Nationally more than 53,000 customers lodged similar complaints over the past three years.
They involve things like embellished services and misleading cancellation and refund policies.
The bureau recommends writing down the facts when signing up for satellite TV; don't just take a salesman or installer's word for it.
Review billing statements and immediately report inaccuracies.
And mark important dates like cancellation deadlines on the calendar.
