Parade theme honors the men and women who risk their lives

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. -- Two Macomb firefighters have been given a special honor at this year's Illinois State Fair.

Steve Teslicka and Ryan Holtz will join two other firefighters from Oaklawn and Marion, respectively, as the grand marshalls of the Twilight Parade Thursday night.

Organizers say picking the firefighters is in keeping with this year's fair theme "Cream of the Crop."

State Fair Manager Amy Bliefnick says the fair wanted to recognize the brave men and women who risk their lives everyday in Illinois.

Ryan Holtz and Steve Teslicka pulled two men from a burning building in June of 2007.

For that heroic deed they recieved the state's second highest honor, the Medal of Valor.
