KEOKUK, IOWA -- The Keokuk Police Department says a local fisherman found the body of a man in the Mississippi River near the wastewater treatment plant late this morning.

According to police reports, three people went for a swim in the river at about three o'clock this morning and only two people came back to shore.

Police and fire crews were dispatched to the area of the old Southside Boat Club on Keokuk's riverfront.

Then at about 10:00 a.m. the body of the man, who is believed to be in his mid 30's was recovered.

His identity isn't being released until relatives are notified.
