Says change will come, but not before November
QUINCY, ILL. -- There is still a lot of uncertainty in Illinois businesses when it comes to expansion and hiring.
That's the message Congressman Aaron Schock (R, IL -18) has received after making stops throughout his district.
Schock visited Quincy Friday, August, 20th to give the Chamber of Commerce a Washington D.C. update.
He said he will be taking a message back to D.C. that there is need for legislation that gets rid of all that uncertainty.
But he doesn't expect much change before November.
"I don't think the economy is going to change until after the November election because after the November election things like the tax policy, the 2001-2003 tax cuts will be decided. After the election things like the healthcare bill will be decided," said Schock.
We also asked Congressman Schock to respond to Vice President Joe Biden's prediction that Democrats will retain control of Congress in the November elections.
"The fact of the matter is, the overwhelming majority of Americans are not happy with Washington D.C. The overwhelming majority of Americans are not happy with those controlling Washington D.C. and so I think there's going to be a lot of changes in November and rightfully so," said Schock.
Congressman Schock says the only way to bring that change is to have a two party system with checks and balances, which means split power is needed.
