QUINCY, ILL. -- Teachers in the Quincy School District now are working without a contract.

The contract expired Monday.

The teachers union has had a contract proposal from the district for more than a week.

The two sides are scheduled to meet on Wednesday.

John Baird with the teachers union says there is no indication teachers will walk off the job.
