HANNIBAL, MO. -- The Mississippi River just south of Hannibal is closed to all commercial traffic until early next week.
The reason? Crews have to dredge the main channel.
[Because of all the flooding this summer, silt and debris have settled to the bottom of the river.
The area closed is basically between Sawyer's Creek and the Continental Cement Company.
Again the river is only temporarily closed to commercial traffic and not recreation boating.
