Two Versailles residents arrested

Two Versailles Illinois residents are in custody after a meth lab explosion in the community Thursday afternoon.
VERSAILLES, ILL. --
People heard a loud explosion and smelled a strong odor of anhydrous ammonia coming from a shed next to a trailer on East 2nd street.

When the owners of the trailer, 40-year-old Russell Egnew and 37-year-old Kimberly Kassing, both of Versailles, were detained by law enforcement.

The West Central Drug Taskforce and The Illinois State Meth Response Team were called in to deal with the clean up of the hazardous materials from the scene.

Egnew and Kassing were taken to the Schuyler County Jail.
