There's growing concern about the weight loss drug Meridia. A new study finds it can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke in people who have pre-existing heart disease.  Questions about Meridia's safety led regulators in Europe to pull it off the market in January.  A Food and Drug Administration advisory panel will review the drug later this month.

A new study shows preventative surgery does help women who have cancer causing genes. According to researchers, women with the braca gene who had a double mastectomy did not develop breast cancer three years after surgery.  Similarly, women who had their fallopian tubes and ovaries removed.. showed no ovarian cancer in the six years following surgery.

A cup of coffee a day may help blood flow.  A new study shows a daily coffee habit can make the heart act younger in older adults with hypertension.  Researchers only saw a benefit in those who drank coffee in moderation.  A higher dose of 3 to 5 cups a day had no effect.
