Mayor Tom Marion wants the area cleaned up

KEOKUK, IOWA -- Remember those arches discovered during the excavation of the old Green Tambourine building in Keokuk?

We asked Mayor Marion where that project stands.

He told us he has sent an e-mail to the group trying to preserve the site to find out how its fundraising is going.

He also wants the area cleaned up so the site doesn't become a nuisance.

He would like to see the hole in the ground filled with sand, which would preserve the arches.

That would help excavations at a later date, if the preservationist group raises enough money.
