ADAIR, ILL. -- Check out these pictures sent in to us form Shawnna Schertz of Adair, Illinois.

Shawnna says she stepped out on to her back porch and found about 150 Monarch butterflies hanging around.

We spoke with May Berenbaum... an Entomologist at the University of Illinois.

She says the Monarch butterflies are on their migration back to Mexico.

She says Shawnna experienced what is called a "stop over flight".

A day of rest on their thousand mile journey home for the winter.
