Illinois drivers will pay more for speeding tickets starting Wednesday.
Fines for speeding will increase $45 to $55 dollars per ticket.
The higher cost will help raise additional revenue for the Illinois State Police and local governments.
We asked drivers familiar with speeding tickets what they thought about the higher fines.

"You know, I was wrong when I was speeding. And I know they're kinda high, but you know, when you do wrong, you gotta pay the fine. So I just pay the fine, but now I'll know for next time," said John Thomas.
The state hasn't increased fines for traffic violations since 1982.
That's 32 to 37 percent more money out of your pocket, if you get caught.
The higher cost you pay will bring in more money for the Illinois State Police and local governments.
