Third mistrial declared in case against Brent Burke

A third mistrial has been declared in the case against former Ursa resident Brent Burke.

After deliberating for nearly nine hours... the jury was not be able to reach an verdict in the first degree murder trial.

Burke was on trial for allegedly killing his ex wife and her former mother in law in their home in September 2007.

A judge will look at the case next month.

The fate of a former Ursa, Illinois man accused of murdering his ex-wife and her former mother-in-law now is in the hands of a jury in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Brent Burke was charged with killing the two women back in 2007.

Burke was serving in the U-S Army when the murders were committed.
