Temp agencies in the Tri-States have seen a surge in job openings these last few months. KHQA spoke with both Adecco and Snelling in the Quincy area. About a month ago temp jobs were highest in demand. But now, most of those positions are hiring full time. They say most people gave up waiting to get their old jobs back.
"With the way the market is now, a lot of them are just wanting to get any type of position they can at this time," said Marcy Bartz, a personnel manger for Snelling.
"I know we've seen a lot of candidates who haven't used the temp agency before," said Cheryl Liggett, a branch manager for Adecco. "They're coming to Adecco to get their foot in the door with a company, one they really want to make a career with and then they'll prove to them that they're the one they need to hire."
Marcy Bartz with Snelling says most employers look for a person's longevity in their work history. Anyone wanting to visit a temp agency for help should bring a complete list of their jobs and qualifications. It does not have to be in the form of a resume.
