QUINCY, ILL. -- The following is a press release from John Wood Community College:
Bill Martin of Hannibal, Mo., recently joined John Wood Community College and will serve in the full-time, grant funded position of workforce development liaison.
Martin will work as an intermediary with business owners and human resource managers to develop employment opportunities for students in manufacturing and workforce programs. He will also coordinate an employment referral program, interview applicants, advise students on career choices and provide references for additional training.
Martin will research and identify potential partner businesses for expansion of JWCC workforce programs while representing and promoting the College’s Workforce Development Center to businesses and community organizations. Additionally, he will collaborate with the Workforce Investment Board of Western Illinois, Great River Economic Development Foundation and other economic and workforce development agencies and programs.
Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Bemidji State University in Minnesota. He is an entrepreneur, partner at GreenTek in Hannibal, serves as a current member and former board member for the Quincy Noon Kiwanis and is an ambassador for the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce.
