QUINCY, ILL. -- The Illinois budget deficit has hit a lot of different programs including the Quincy Society of Fine Arts. The Arts Dollars program has been put on hold. It's not that they haven't received any money from Illinois, but so far, the state hasn't notified them how much they will get and when they would get it. Last year, the program got $6,000 for 27 art programs in Quincy. While we were speaking with Quincy Society of Fine Arts Executive Director, a concerned teacher called asking if the Instant Arts Dollars Program will be effected.
"The Arts Dollars Program that we're putting on suspended mode until we get more information from the state of Illinois is not the same as the Instant Arts Dollars program. We still next year will award $10,500 through the Instant Arts Dollars Program to the teachers," said Quincy Society of Fine Arts Executive Director Rob Dwyer.
That program has changed a little as well. The Instant Arts Dollars Program used to give teachers up to one hundred dollars for admissions to local museums and the teachers would pay for the busses. Instead, that money will be used to bring the museums into the schools.
