MACOMB, ILL. -- After a $4.7 million renovation to the Illinois Army National Guard's Macomb armory, its soldiers participated in a rededication ceremony of the armory and an open house to show the public the major improvements to the 56-year-old building.

Renovations included a "going green" theme with new ventilation and electrical systems as well as new floors. The building now houses a kitchen and new locker rooms.

Close to two hundred soldiers from seven states use the armory, but Cpt. Friedrich Josellis with the 44th Chemical Batallion says it's here for the community as well.

"In the event of an emergency, we can also support the community. We already do that, even through the renovations, but now, we're in an even better position to do that," said Josellis.

Captain Josellis also spoke about the armory's Funeral and Honors Detail. He says its very important to show the community that our soldiers at home are there for our veterans to the very end.
