QUINCY, ILL. -- With the current economic conditions, estate and tax planning is more important than ever.

That's why the Salvation Army sponsored a workshop for attorneys, investment advisors and bank trustees to get them up-to-date with up and coming changes to the profession.

Nearly 70 professionals in the field attended the nationwide broadcast seminar here in Quincy.

Officials with the Salvation Army say many generous residents leave portions of their estates to the charity.

Those dollars are especially important as more folks turn to the Salvation Army for help.

In fact in August, folks seeking utility and food assistance went up by 60 percent.

Most of those people had never needed help before.
