3rd Abundance Exchange sponsored by Unity Spritual Life Center of Quincy
QUINICY, ILL. -- Your abundance may be someone else's treasure.
That's the idea behind a program called the Abundance Exchange, sponsored by Unity Spiritual Life Center in Quincy.
KHQA's Jarod Wells shows you how it works.
Tables in the former County Market building at 30th and Broadway in Quincy looked were empty at first, but quickly filled up. Items came in by car loads and trailer loads. People dropped off pretty much anything they didn't need anymore in hopes of helping others.
Abundance Exchange Co-Coordinator Victoria Taylor said, "We have a couch that's in excellent condition. We have a queen size mattress and springs that several people have already gone 'wow, that's great.' Furniture, dishes, antiques, a whole bunch of food. Nice coats, leather coats, yes we have some really nice things here."
The only thing that was not accepted was clothing. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 25th starting at 9:00 AM everyone is invited to browse through the abundance.
Taylor said, "It's an opportunity to rethink your life, and look around and see that we do live in abundance instead of lack. And with all the stock market crash and people losing their jobs, we just need to rethink and realize we do have abundance and there are wonderful things around us. Maybe if we stepped over and thought about the good things in our life, it wouldn't feel so terrible."
Items will be available on a first come, first serve basis, but there will be limits on how much each person can take.
Just to be clear items are available for free Saturday, September 25th.
Anything that is not taken from the exchange will be donated to Salvation Army.
