QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy School Board president trying to keep his seat will file an appeal this week.

Attorney Bob Adrian says he'll meet the 30 day deadline to file an appeal in the case against Bud Niekamp.

Last month, Judge Diane Lagoski issued an order to remove Niekamp from the school board because of an Illinois law that prohibits a county board member from serving on a school board.

The judge ruled Niekamp could keep serving on the school board during the appeal process.

Niekamp gave up his county board position in 2009.
