The following is a press release from the West Central IL Drug Task Force:

"On 10/07/10 at approximately 8:20 p.m., agents of the West Central IL Drug Task Force and members of the Quincy Police Department Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at 1244 Kentucky Street, Quincy, Adams County, IL. Due to intelligence of a possible active meth lab, officers made entry wearing protective chemical masks. Once inside of the residence, agents located numerous chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Agents also encountered a strong chemical odor associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. Outside of the residence, agents located two discarded meth labs. One of the residents of 1244 Kentucky, Edwin Barnstead Jr., was present at the time of the search warrant. Barnstead was arrested without incident and was found to be in possession of several grams of recently manufactured methamphetamine. Barnstead was lodged in the Adams County Jail. Members of the IL State Police Meth Response team assisted in the investigation.

Subject arrested: Edwin R. Barnstead Jr. (Aggravated Unlawful Participation in Meth Production).

The West Central Task Force is comprised of officers from the Illinois State Police, Quincy Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pike County Sheriff’s Department. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."
