KEOKUK, IOWA. -- Until that resolution is made, many people within the Keokuk community will stand with the 250 laid off Roquette workers.
Today, hundreds of people marched for solidarity, showing support for the workers who've been locked out.
The group met here at the Keokuk Labor Temple before marching down to 14th Street.
"It's just a showing of support for each other for against employers that are trying to cut wages, benefits, and safety issues," said Local 48G union President Steve Underwood.
And those in the community who didn't march... Still showed their support in other ways.
"The support of the community is overwhelming. I really am grateful for everybody out here that has been supporting this. I think the people in this community understand what we're up against and what it means to them. Because they're taking a lot of income and a lot of money. Our economy is in bad shape here. We already have an over abundance of unemployment," said Roquette worker John Spicer.
Marcher's held signs that read -- We supoprt BCTGM Local 48G and If you're free thank a vet... if you're locked out thank Roquette.
"We're wanting to work and we'd like to have a contract... A fair one and we really haven't been offered one as of yet," said Spicer.
"We need your support, all you can get to keep it alive and well. The unions need to be strong. We need to continue the march for the United States worker," said Roquette employee Cindy Runge.
"Local 48G is being suppored and these people need to understand this concessionary bargaining and stuff that's going down is just not good for the community, the people, the state, nothing. I mean it's hurting us all," said Spicer.
"We need the support. Let's stick together and stay in this for the fight," said Runge.
