SHELBINA, MO. -- Everyday Emergency Medical Services workers risk their lives to help the community.
Sunday, nine of them who have died were honored.
One by one...

Each of the fallen service men and women were remembered...
"Wayne Harrison, Firefighter EMT Salt River Ambulance" ...
"Donna Hoffman, Administrator, EMT Lewis County Ambulance" ...
They all were honored because they gave their lives to E-M-S...
"Irene Klauser, EMT Lewis County Ambulance"...
"It means that someone appreciated what he did, and that they noticed, because he was a pretty good guy," said Sarah Martin.
"Mike Pamperi, paramedic Randolph County Ambulace" ...
They represent the men and women...
"Eddie Selsor, EMT Marion County Ambulance" ...
Who have made a significant impact on their community...
"Audrea Lyons, Adair County Ambulance"
And the districts they served...
"Gentry Wilson, Monroe City Ambulance"
"We feel like with what they do to help people, stuff like that, they need to be honored very similar like what the fire and police does. This is the first one that I know if on the state of Missouri and we hope to continue that.," said Deputy State Commander George Wright.
Those nine EMS service men and women either lost their lives responding to a call, were employed at the time of their death, or served for 20 years or more.
