QUINCY, ILL. -- With election day less than a week away, politicians are making their last rounds of campaign stops. Wednesday, Democratic candidate for Adams County Treasurer Reg Ankrom stopped in Quincy. He says he wants to make the tax system more efficient and easier on homeowners.
"We have a number of web-based tools that we'll be introducing. A tax-base calculator, so we make sure that when I get my tax bill, I know it's right. Currently, it's sort of an article of faith that we're accepting the bill when it arrives. We will also have a property tax information system that will help me if I want to protest my tax bill if I feel my tax is a little higher than it should be," said Ankrom.
Ankrom also wants to ease the burden on mobile homeowners who miss the deadline for tax payments. He says the fines homeowners must pay should be reduced to fit their budget.
