KEOKUK, IOWA -- The Keokuk School district is ready move forward with several building projects.
Early next year the board will start the bidding process for the 13 and a half million dollar project list.
That includes renovations to Keokuk High School, George Washington Elementary and Hawthorne Elementary.
The district has three groups of projects it hopes to complete in the next five to seven years.
All of this work is in group one.
"At the high school we're going to get the windows in and then work on heating and cooling. And then at the elementary schools we're going to work on that addition at Hawthorne. At the same time we're going to do some renovating at George Washington with the heating and cooling system, make sure that's up to part. Really go through that building top to bottom and make sure that that's a great facility for students," said Keokuk Superintendent Lora Wolff.
Work is slated to begin on group one next spring.
Group one will be paid for through the current one cent sales tax and grants.
No new taxes will be implemented for this work.
