QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy Family YMCA Association is proud to announce the 2010 Strong Kids Campaign, its annual support fundraising drive, has raised a total of $135,582. The Quincy Family YMCA exceeded goal with pledges of $80,393. The Mt. Sterling YMCA Strong Kids Campaign exceeded its goal as well, with $55,189 in pledged contributions.

“Charitable contributions, like those made to the Strong Kids Campaign, allow the YMCA to fulfill its mission of serving kids and families throughout the Quincy area,” stated 2010 Quincy Campaign Chair Mark Hayes.

Funds raised provide financial assistance to children who couldn’t otherwise afford YMCA program and membership services.  Strong Kids donations fund worthwhile youth programs that meet community needs.  Key programs that will be funded through the Quincy campaign include swim lessons for low-income children through the HeadStart program, After-School Child Care, and a wide variety of youth sports programs. In addition, children ages up to 18 are able to receive membership financial assistance so they can participate as full-privilege YMCA members.  Donated dollars from the Mt. Sterling Strong Kids Campaign are earmarked for youth sports, summer day camps, toddler programs, and maintaining free community room use.

"We are always so thankful for our local supporters. In such a small community, one might think the need isn’t as great, but it is and once again the Brown County community came through for the YMCA ,” said 2010 Mt. Sterling Campaign Chair Richard Young.

The Quincy Family YMCA is a non-profit charitable organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our local communities through programs and services that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
