QUINCY, ILL. -- Even though the weather's been nice the last few days, it's hard not to get into the Christmas spirit when you hear Christmas music.

It's the Kickoff to the Quincy Salvation Army Christmas Campaign.

The goal for this year is $335,000.

That's a $10,000 increase from last year's goal which was reached.

Major Alan Wurtz says the goal was raised because the need for help is greater.

In the eight years that I have been in the community, I have seen these numbers grow just a little bit throughout the years within the past two years, it's grown tremendously. The need is far greater," says Alan Wurtz.

If the Christmas music doesn't get you in the holiday spirit, maybe the ringing of the kettle bells will.

Bell ringing starts this Friday.

If you'd like to volunteer to ring bells this year, contact your local Salvation Army.
