CLARK CO., MO. -- Update: Novemeber 13, 2010 10:30 p.m.

We have new information regarding a death investigation in Clark County.

The Clark County Sheriff's Department will detain two people who were arrested Friday.

The case stems from the discovery of the body of Shawn Wright of Kahoka on Monday. He was found dead just north of Gregory Landing.

The two persons of interest were originally jailed under a 24-hour hold. Before that expired, two new warrants for their arrest were issued Saturday afternoon, both for possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both people are being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $75,000 cash bond.

Few details have been released until now about a body found in Northeast Missouri Monday.

KHQA's Brooke Hasch spoke with workers at the Gregory Landing Elevator.

They say a local farmer found the body while walking along the levee, about a quarter of a mile north of the elevator.

Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control were called to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

On November 10, 2010, an autopsy of the body was performed at which time the identity of the deceased individual was determined to be Shawn R. Wright, 40, of Kahoka, Missouri.

On November 11, 2010, the Northeast Missouri Major Case Squad, the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Violent Crimes Support Unit, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations were activated to assist the Clark County Sheriff's Office with the investigation.

Numerous investigative leads were established which led to a search warrant being executed in Wayland, Missouri.  As a result of the search warrant, two persons of interest were taken into custody on unrelated charges, and they were taken to the Clark County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending further charges.

The investigation is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Northeast Missouri Major Case Squad.

The Northeast Missouri Major Case Squad members assisting in the investigation include:  Marion County Sheriff's Office; Kahoka Police Department; Macon Police Department; Lewis County Sheriff's Office; Scotland County Sheriff's Office; Knox County Sheriff's Office; North Missouri Drug Task Force; Missouri State Highway Patrol; and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.

We will bring you new details as they are released.
