If you cross your eyes too much they'll stay that way
Of all the myths that we've dissected over the past 12 days, this may be the most popular one.
And we may all feel quite deceived when we heart the real truth.
Jarod Wells has the truth behind this myth in this KHQA Safe Family Report.
You've always heard that if you cross your eyes too much, they'll stay that way. Is this true or false?
Rick Knochel said, "This is definitely a myth."
We were able to get a local expert to explain this myth a little more in depth.
Optometrist Krisie Shevalier with IEC said, "The eyes have muscles kind of like the rest of your body. If you're using them and you're turning your eyes in, eventually they're going to tire and you're not going to be able to turn them in any longer. It's not going to cause any permanent harme, no permanent damage."
If you notice your child's eyes are turning in or out unintentionally, then you need to get them to a doctor.
Shevalier said, "They could have something called strabismus, which is where an eye can turn in or an eye can turn out as well. So if the parent ever sees anything like this and it's nothing that the child is doing intentionally, then they need to bring them in to an eye doctor."
This is the last of the health myth series.
