QUINCY, ILL. -- A group of women in Quincy are trying to do their part to help women who have recently gotten out of jail.
The Well House Jail Ministry consists of twelve women who go to the Adams County jail every Saturday.
They encourage women to lead a better life once released.
But they want to take it one step further.
The organization is raising money to build or buy a house for the women to live in, sort of like a halfway house.
"We see the women sometimes come in to the jail and then return maybe a year later or a couple of years later and it's really been an effort to keep them out of the jail. So, this is a possibility that they can come into a home that's different from the environment that they've been in and get well," said board member Kristy Miller.
So far, the Well House has raised $30,000. It hopes to raise $25,00 more tonight.
