Crissy Whitacker is stepping in as interim director of the Lewis County, Missouri E-911 center.
Board Chairman Randy Eaton says board members appointed Whitacker at a meeting Sunday, November 14.
Whitacker has worked as a dispatcher in Lewis County for a number of years.
Eaton says the board received a resignation letter from former director Nita Bellsmith saying she was "unable to work with the board".
Eaton says board members were "shocked" by her resignation.
Eaton also says the board will watch equipment maintenance closely and have to wait on any upgrades after voters rejected a sales tax increase that would have helped pay for improvements to the emergency system.
