QUINCY, ILL. -- Looking to save on lighting this holiday season? Swap out your old Christmas lights for LED's. These energy star bulbs alone can save you up to 80 percent on your electric bill.

Staff at the Home Depot in Quincy say while LED's cost more up front than the traditional incandecent lights, they'll save you money in the long run.

"The LED Christmas lights here, the same strand length, however, they use about 9 watts of electricity. Here's the normal everyday Christmas lights. They use about 40 watts of electricity per strand. In turn, you can connect considerably more of these if you're decorating a home, than you can these, because you're not overloading your outlet," said Chad Stevenson with Home Depot.

Chad Stevenson says you can connect almost a fourth of a mile of LED's off one outlet. They're also guaranteed to last longer than your typical incandecent bulbs.
