To hospitals with high volumes of Medicaid patients
MACOMB, ILL. -- Area hospitals that provide Medicaid services are getting help paying their bills.
A plan to speed up payments to some Illinois hospitals means increased federal matching funds.
The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services has received federal approval to make $120 million in one-time payments to Illinois hospitals.
The amount each hospital will receive is set by state law.
McDonough District Hospital in Macomb will receive $161,211.
"One of the things about the program is that it allows us to take care of the Medicaid patients. The program is basically set up to allow hospitals to receive these funds for those hospitals that have a high volume of Medicaid patients," said MDH Vice President of Finance Linda Dace.
Culbertson Memorial in Rushville ($376,623), Illini Community in Pittsfield ($293,269) and Blessing Hospital in Quincy ($882,010) will also receive a one time payment.
The higher federal match was available through last year's economic stimulus act.
