Opponents push to end Ill. executions

Opponents of Illinois' death penalty are promising a major push this month to try to officially end executions in the state.

The group says the state's capital punishment system is broken and wants lawmakers to get rid of the death penalty during their fall session.

No one's been executed in Illinois in more than a decade.

Thomas Kokoraleis was executed by lethal injection on March 16, 1999 at the Tamms Correctional Center for the 1982 ritual mutilation and stragulation of Lorraine Borowski. Read more about this at pjstar.com.
