QUINCY, ILL. -- by Kevin Payne, WTAD News
A former paraeducator in the Quincy Public Schools has had her trial on forgery and drug charges moved to January.
Mary Catherine Grove was in court Monday morning for a pre-trial hearing. In October, she pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery of a prescription, health care fraud, obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Grove was originally set for trial in December, but Judge Mark Drummond granted a request to continue the trial to January 2011. She will also have a status hearing on December 15.
Grove is accused of trying to obtain the drug adderall from the Hy-Vee pharmacy with a forged prescription from Dr. Ron Wheeler in September.
Grove, 50, resigned from the Quincy Public Schools effective October 18.
Adams County State’s Attorney Jon Barnard tells WTAD News that Grove may accept a plea deal with his office before the trial date.
