SPRINGFIELD, ILL. -- A Chambersburg, Illinois, woman, Anita C. Brackett, 51, who previously pled guilty to defrauding two Pike County banks, was sentenced Monday to serve 30 months in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Richard Mills further ordered that Brackett pay restitution in the total amount of $408,200.
Brackett is to report to the Federal Bureau of Prisons after January 1, 2011, on a specific date to be determined by the Bureau of Prisons.
Upon completion of her prison sentence, Brackett was ordered to remain on supervised release for five years.
On July 28, 2010, Brackett pled guilty to two counts of bank fraud. Brackett admitted that from Nov. 10, 1998, to Jul. 6, 2006, while she was employed at Community Bank, later First Bank, in Pittsfield, Illinois, she embezzled bank funds which she used for personal expenses including to make payments and improvements on property in Chambersburg and the installation of an in-ground swimming pool.
Brackett resigned from the bank on Jul. 6, 2006.
She further admitted that from Sept. 27, 2007 to Jun. 27, 2008, while she was employed at Corn Belt Bank, she embezzled $12,000 for her personal use.
Brackett was ordered to pay restitution of $396,200.52 to First Bank and $12,000 to Corn Belt Bank.
Further, the government has requested and Brackett has agreed to forfeit her interest in land and other property.
