More people than ever before will hear about the great arts and culture of the Quincy community.
QUINCY, ILL. --
That's thanks to 10 thousand dollars in grant money from the National Endowment of the Arts.

The money is part of a larger art endowment of more than 26 million dollars to promote the arts around the nation.

Quincy Society of the Fine Arts executive director Rob Dwyer says that the money will make the arts more accessible to everybody in the Tri-States.

It will also help create programs that will draw more tourists to city's many cultural opportunities.

And that will mean more people in town spending money on food, hotels and other businesses...all of which will help pay our local taxes.

The Quincy Society of Fine Arts which was founded in 1947, was the first arts council in the country.
