The Quincy Salvation Army is asking you to help put Christmas under the tree for area children.

Major Alan Wurtz says toys are desperately needed for the Toy Town program.

He says around 1200 children are on the list this year who won't get a Christmas without help.

The Salvation Army is accepting new and gently used toys like this for the giveaway.

Major Alan Wurtz said, "The need is really great this year in our community. A lot of people are unemployed and there are a lot of first timers that have been coming through our doors during the holiday season."

By the way, Toy Town is different than the Salvation Army's Angel tree program.

The children families can adopt on Angel Trees in the area are actually the first 500 registered with the organization for help with Christmas.

Toy town covers more than a thousand others to make sure every child gets a Christmas.
