Facing 2 counts of first degree murder for 1993 stabbing

SCHUYLER COUNTY, ILL. -- A 17-year-old Rushville murder case finally hit the courts in Schuyler County Wednesday.

42-year-old Jeffery Kennedy of Quincy was indicted by a Schuyler County Grand Jury at the end of last month (November) for the 1993 murder of Susan Bonser.

He is accused of stabbing Bonser to death in her Rushville apartment on October 16, 1993.

Kennedy appeared in the Schuyler County Courthouse Wednesday for a preliminary hearing

He is facing two counts of first degree murder with a maximum penalty of 20 to 60 years in prison.

The cold case investigation began last spring.

Kennedy will be back in court Monday, December 20 for arraignment.
