Gem City Ford, Y101 collecting toys for children

QUINCY, ILL. -- This is the second year Y101 is packing its lobby for the Quincy Salvation Army.

People have been dropping off new and used toys in the lobby.

Monday is the last day of collection and Tuesday all the toys will be taken to the Salvation Army for distribution.

"Some less fortunate children are certainly going to enjoy seeing those on Christmas morning, I know that. People have turned out this year and as you can see, have done it again. Last year we filled the lobby up a couple of times, we're going to load it up again now and it's just going to be a fun time when we get these toys down to the Salvation Army next week," said Y101's Jeff Dorsey.

Gem City Ford is also collecting toys.

People have been filling a truck with toys, canned goods and money to be given to the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and the Red Cross.

The dealership has also given people some incentive to help our their community.

"The TV is something that we donated. We're giving it away, people come in and donate, they can register to win this beautiful TV.  It's been down a little bit this year, it's just starting to pick up these last few days. We've had quite a few people come in and donate a lot of food," said Butch Gail, Gem City Ford GM.

Gem City Ford has been getting more monetary donations than toy donations this year.
