Usually flooded with seasonal jobs this time of the year

You might think seasonal employment opportunities would be through the roof with local businesses, stores and malls packed with Christmas shoppers.

But that's not the case this year.

A manager at Manpower Employment Services in Quincy told KHQA the office usually is flooded with seasonal job openings this time of the year.

But this year she's seeing more temp-to-hire positions, which eventually become permanent jobs.

"That's abnormal for this time of year. Usually it is the seasonal, but the economy is on a little bit of an up-tick and we've been lucky to have a lot of jobs," said Erica Anders, Branch Manager for Manpower Inc. Employment Services.

Erica Anders says May is when she really started getting flooded with job openings and it hasn't slowed down since.
