ADAMS CO., ILL. -- The Adams County Treasurer’s office has announced that county real estate tax records are now online. They are available through the Adams County treasurer web page.
Current County Treasurer, Terry Asher, said that the records were placed online just after Thanksgiving.
“Jean Reddington, the former county treasurer deserves the credit for this initiative. She worked on this for three years. This should be a great benefit to the county," said Asher.
Users may search for a specific property by the Parcel Index Number shown on each tax bill. They can also search for one or more properties by owner name, address, taxing body and other criteria. Records are available from the 1999 tax year through 2009. The system displays property information including the owner name and address at the time of billing, net taxable value, tax rates, payments, legal descriptions, and taxing bodies.
The service is free. From the Treasurer’s web page on the Adams County website, select “Online Tax Records.”
In addition, the county Geographic Information System provides a link to tax records on the “parcel screen” for each property. Before this, people needing this information had to either call the Treasurer’s office or make a trip into the courthouse. Now the information is as close as a computer with internet access.
Call the treasurer’s office at 277-2245 for more information.
