QUINCY, ILL -- The Quincy Fire Department and the Quincy Firefighters Union 63 came to the rescue of those in need again today.

As part of an annual tradition, off duty firefighters delivered over 250 meals to homebound residents today. The meals were prepared at the Quincy Senior and Family Resource center. But delivering the meals wasn't the only gift the firefighters donated today.

Captain Mark Bigelow with the Quincy Firefighters Local 63 says, "This is the special time of year, just before Christmas. We take this Tuesday route and we like to give all the regular volunteers a day off. So we come and deliver each one of the routes and on top of that, we purchase all the meals."

The meals are paid for by the Firefighters annual concert.
