Pedestrian fatality in Iowa

MONTROSE, IOWA -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a one vehicle and pedestrian accident at around 9:26 p.m. Tuesday.

It occurred on Highway 61/218 two miles south of Montrose.

Michele Lee Flockhart, 38, of rural Keokuk was driving alone northbound on Highway 61/218 in a GMC Envoy and attempted to pass a semi when she struck John Keith Flemming, 27, of Fort Madison.

Flockhart was unable to see the pedestrian.

Flemming sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit, Montrose Police Department, Montrose Fire and Rescue, and the Lee County EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
